Hey!Making storage is a little harder than making efficient use of available storage, but it is very possible. I will eventually get the basics down for room by room organizing and will try to include as many examples of alternatives as possible. That may not be much help right away, but if you have something specific come up give me a shout (or Plurk) and I'll jump to it sooner instead of you having to wait for me to get to it.

I love the way you re-arranged your pantries and office space. You did an amazing job of finding solutions that worked where you needed them - and so frugally! I would never have thought you were having storage problems. P.S. If anything in those spaces start to bug you later, let me know. We can bounce some tweaking ideas off of one another!

I am sending you an e-mail with some more questions. There are many things that come to mind that may help you, but getting some more details about your space would make them better. I would love to reprint your situation in a post by itself. A guest room combined with a second purpose is very common. There are a lot of people that could benefit from finding some solutions to try and a lot of people that would be able to share their space saving storage tips and resources. Thank you for commenting!

I have one combo space that is making me tear my hair out. It's a guest room right now, but we are wanting to turn it into a craft room/guest room. Problem is, it has a weird 4inch deep closet (I kid you not, it's only 4 inches from the front to back...you can't even hang clothes in it.....WEIRD) that sticks OUT into the room, and a "short" wall (the roof line comes down to about 5 1/2 ft off the floor on one side). So lack of full walls, weird closet and NO I can not afford a quality pull out couch or *yuck* futon to replace the mattress that is in there...so what's a girl to do?? Did I mention it is like only 15ftx15ft with all those weird things? the mattress takes up the majority of the room... I have GREAT ideas to organize a craft room but I need SPACE saving help for the craft room that isn't ONLY a craft room HELP!!

OK, so you guilted me into commenting. LOL

I don't know where to even start. We bought a house in the end of September. So now that we're 95% unpacked (you know how that goes... I still have all that stuff to decorate with I know NOT what to do with) it is down to the organizing and whatnot. As this was a house I bought that someone else had done things to, it is becoming interesting trying to manage. Especially because there is nearly NO storage space. For example, my freezer is in a regular room. Yes, it sits on carpet. Don't ask me how I"ll defrost it, maybe you don't REALLy need to do that? This house is definitely laid out weird. It's a nice size, but not how I would have utilized the space if I was the architect!

So my goals for the new year, storage where there is no storage. LOL As well as just figuring everything else out! :) If you have any ideas... well I say post that!! :)

I like your basic ideas... I think they are all good for the new year. I know that's little help, but hey. It's my 2 cents. Now I'll go back to just reading ;)
