While I was wandering through the internet yesterday, I came across an article written by Shai Coggins from S Studio. She had used Wordle and was somewhat surprised at what her text cloud had to say about the content of her blog.
It got me to thinking of other ways you could use Wordle as a tool.
What is Wordle?
It is an online java script application that turns words into a text cloud. You can enter your favorite words into the text box or you can enter a website address (URL). Wordle counts the words used and makes an artistic representation with the word used most often getting the the most emphasis.
How can You Use Wordle as a Productivity Tool
Keep a list of the activities you work on through out the day. You could break the time into 15 minute blocks and type one word that represents that time block into any word processing program. Now enter that list into the text block on Wordle. You will get back a clear picture of where you spent the most time. You could keep adding to the list over the week or for the month.
Another Thought
What would happen if you entered your diary or journal entry for the day? Would you be surprised by what you were really saying? Would you be surprised by what the entry says about you?
How many other ways could you use Wordle as a tool for self discovery?

Some good ideas there! Glad you found the post useful. Definitely nice meeting you.

By the way, I’m not related to the Collins’. I am, however, related to some Coggins’.
Anyway, thanks again for the visit, the link, and for sharing your thoughts here.
I’m so sorry, Shai, I fixed your name to be accurate. Yet another lesson learned today.
Laurel..that is such a cool idea!!!! I played with wordle from a digital scrapbooking perspecctive, but had never thought of using it this way. Thanks for the great idea!!!
I’m a little afraid of using this to test my productivity. I’m afraid the words TV, Stumbling, and ice cream would be LARGE on my Wordle.
My First Kitchens last blog post..The Secret Is In the Sauce
LOL, My First Kitchen! I have seen your website - it is obvious you keep busy! Between doing all of the things you show, plus all that is involved with keeping the website including the gorgeous pictures you take for yours, I doubt very seriously that those would be the largest words. But they do sound like a perfect way to spend my ME time later this evening.
