Join the Laurel Plum Online Clutter Scavenger Hunt

The Laurel Plum Online Clutter Scavenger Hunt is not a scavenger hunt as you know them. It is a fun way to start getting organized.  A few days ago, I did a post where I mentioned that when it comes to being organized what works today, may not work tomorrow.  The Laurel Plum Scavenger Hunt will be something that everyone can do to make a little difference right now.

Normally for a scavenger hunt, you have a long listing of many different items that you have to hunt and collect. Here on Laurel Plum Online we will pick one specific item. We will search our entire homes and collect as much of that item as possible.  When we are not searching for a specific item, we will pick one specific quick challenge to do.

The beauty of starting to get organized by joining the scavenger hunt is that you can do something today without changing habits, without implementing any new systems, and without spending a lot of money.  For those people who do not know where to start, these are great first steps.  Then whenever you feel comfortable, you can move up to the Basics and then to the next or Second Steps, then on through the system at your own pace.

The Challenges

The items we will hunt for are what I call Clutter Monsters. (The name came when my then wee little man had cookie monster and the gang in my ear a few too many months weeks days in a row. Please, forgive the cutesy.)  A Clutter Monster is something that most of us have in abundance. It may be something most of us could or would like to get rid of all together.  If we can not rid ourselves completely, most of us can at least significantly reduce the item in number.  Sometimes these are items that easily multiply and take over the house if not kept in check.

The challenges will not focus on a specific item.  They will be something fairly easy to do but may take more or less time to accomplish.

So what will the prize be? – The best prize will be your house turning more and more into a Home!  It will become more and more organized each week.  (Hopefully we can get enough people to participate in the LPO scavenger hunt to entice sponsors to offer additional prizes on occasion.)
