There are several top reasons most people avoid working on organization and productivity. Some believe you have to be sterile, stuffy, boring and dare I say anal retentive to get into organization. Some believe it is too much work to keep organized and do not want to invest what free time they have to yet more chores. Some believe that the degree of messiness is equivalent to their degree of creativity. And the Biggie – many people just have no idea where to start.
In reality, becoming organized is one of the greatest gifts you could give to yourself. When we live in organized spaces and have systems in place to handle the daily monotony, we free our time and our minds to explore the more social and creative aspects of our lives. We can spend more time with the people we rarely get to see. We can see more people more often. We can spend more quality time with our loved ones. We can volunteer and get more involved in our community. We can try the things we always wanted to try. We can really find the time for not only one hobby, but maybe several. Our minds are not cluttered so we become more creative, maybe even artistic. We start thinking outside of the box. But most importantly, by being organized we put ourselves in a position to better handle the unexpected without everything around us falling completely apart.
In the next couple of weeks I will be posting several articles that will let you know just what being disorganized costs you. Then we will dive in together and help you to find real ways to get started.
