My Thanksgiving To Do List for Thursday

by Laurel Plum

Seriously, what is up with this seating arrangement?

This is going to be a busy week for most of us. I thought it might be helpful to some if I shared some of the daily tasks I have on my lists over the next few days.

Thursday – To Do

Make sure to be the first one up and in the shower. Get completely dressed.  A couple of the family women will be here before breakfast has even finished cooking.

Turn on the TV. The parades are on and in a few short hours it will be continuous football for days. If I lay a claim now, I’ll get to watch while I cook and for a few minutes before the men realize what they aren’t watching.

Stir the green beans.

Take out the ‘Monkey Bread’ to get the chill off.

Pop a CD in the player. When the football starts, so does the holiday music.

Fill the sink half full with soapy water. Wash, dry and put away dishes as we go.

Start the cider. Add apple juice to the dry ingredients already in the cider pot. Start simmering. Cut up oranges to add to the cider and for breakfast.

Start the coffee.

Bake the ‘Monkey Bread’.

Stage cooking. I open my planner and put the recipe sheets with each pot/pan group. I put the cooking schedule on the front of the refrigerator as a reference for everyone.  I check the schedule to make sure each recipe set is placed in order to be prepared. I get out most of the additional ingredients and put them with the pots and pans staged yesterday on a first come, first served basis.

Eat Breakfast.

Start Cooking.

Enjoy Family and Friends. Count our many blessing.  Happy Thanksgiving!
